Taking photos to capture a story

Photographer. Naturalist. Storyteller.
I'm Rob Laux, a Utah-based photographer interested in the relationship between people and the world around them.
My work moves between fashion, branding, documentary, and wildlife photography—but the common thread is always the same: creating images that feel genuine, intentional, and connected to a sense of place.
I work with brands, individuals, and organizations that care about how their story is seen.
Based in Utah. Available for assignments and projects throughout the West and beyond.
The Background
Chapter 2 of my photographic journey
I wanted to be a professional skier growing up. When I was 17 a crash crushed several vertebrae and ended that dream. Started showing up to competition with a camera and Student ID to hang out with my friends and ignited my love of photography. Got my degree in Photo from Montana State University focusing heavily in alternative processes. But I didn't understand the business side and life made it hard to make enough so I stopped.
Fast forward to my thirties... I feel in love with Wildlife Conservation and would travel to amazing places like Kenya and India. Bought a Canon 5D III and found that love again. Now I split my time between capturing images of amazing animals and finding people that have passions in their life. Whether it's a sport, hobby, charitable work or even a brand I love capturing an image that posses the spirit of them.
Bucket list travel locations
